Our global site network is growing! We are launching with clinical research sites across India, Australia and South Africa and will be adding to our global footprint in Q2 2025 with sites in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Wendy Baird
Founder & Director
With a passion for driving positive change, innovation and simplifying processes, Wendy has over two decades of experience in health care and clinical research. She has held various roles across project management, data, governance, commercial and senior leadership, all of which have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate complex research projects.
Wendy is a dedicated site-network professional, with a vision driven by a passionate belief in the importance of diversity within clinical research, and helping people access innovative new treatments to make a positive difference in the lives of patients worldwide. Under her guidance, one of Activate’s aims is to bridge gaps in healthcare access, enabling patients from different backgrounds and geographical regions to participate in sponsor’s important clinical research.
Wendy’s leadership exemplifies a blend of experience, compassion, strategy and a proven record of being able to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing innovative solutions to benefit stakeholders. James Baird
Director & Finance
A highly accomplished finance professional with an extensive academic background and diverse international industry experience, James holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Applied Finance, complemented by an Advanced Diploma in Global Business Services. As a member of the Chartered Public Accountants (CPA) and the Institute of Company Directors (AICD), James is dedicated to maintaining high standards of professionalism and governance.
With a wealth of experience in project and operational management and expertise in managing complex financial systems, James has successfully navigated and driven rapid growth and innovation in start-ups and large international global businesses. His responsibilities extend to ensuring compliance with statutory reporting and implementing transfer pricing strategies, all while overseeing Activate’s finance function and liaising with external auditors and customers. James is a highly respected leader in global financial management.
Ali Bohra
Strategy & Operations
With a Masters Degree, specializing in clinical pharmacology and pharmacy practice, Ali holds outstanding academic achievements and over two decades of clinical research experience across global, regional, and country focussed operational and strategic roles. Starting his career as a Clinical Research Associate (CRAs), Ali quickly advanced to become the Director of Clinical Operations at Kendle (now Syneos Health). Ali was responsible for overseeing a team of 140 individuals, including CRAs, line managers, and associate directors. Contributing to the executive leadership team, he ensured the company’s success in securing preferred partnerships for monitoring services with multiple clients and led major Functional Service Projects (FSPs).
Following Kendle, Ali joined a UK-based CRO QED/Orphan Reach to establish new company operations in India and Asia Pacific. Under his leadership, a team of 50+ was developed in India and significantly contributed to the success of the company’s global operations. Orphan Reach was acknowledged for being one of the pioneering CROs which led to its acquisition by Emmes in 2021.
Ali’s commitment to diversity is evident in his efforts to promote inclusivity and representation in all aspects of the research process and he has a proven record building operational teams across different countries, cultures and functions. Ali is adept at building relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, regulatory authorities, and patient advocacy groups.
Throughout his career, Ali has successfully delivered large global phase II-IV clinical studies and public health research projects in over 40+ countries as well as having extensive experience in feasibility, site selection and innovative patient recruitment and retention that helped deliver rare disease trials, in even the most remote locations of the world. Ali offers strong project management, operational and leadership experience to Activate and its customers.
